Acrylic Countertop
- man-made, non-porous
- low maintenance required
- stain resistant, not stain-proof
- low resistance to heat
- will scratch (repairable)

Soapstone Countertop
- natural stone, porous
- maintenance recommended
- can stain
- highest resistance to heat
- scratches, mineral oil offers forgiveness (use cutting mats/boards)

Porcelain Countertop
- man-made, non-porous
- no maintenance required
- stain resistant
- heat resistant (use trivets)
- resistant to scratching (use cutting mats/boards)

Wood Countertop
- natural, porous
- minimal maintenance required
- can stain
- low resistance to heat

Laminate Countertop
